What does it mean to Mother the Divide?
Growing up in rural Pennsylvania, I love mountains and mountain divides have always been my favorite. When I became a mother, the divide meant something different for me: who was I now? I hope to help women mother the divide that is mothering our children, our spirits, and the sacred. The divide is the “in between” spot where we find ourselves most days—trying to balance and juggle it all. And as we mother the divide--mothering children, mothering spirit, mothering sacred--we really can discover who we are and, I believe, who God meant for us to be. I truly think children help us find our identities, often lost since our own childhoods. And when this happens, it's nothing short of holy. Here, at Mothering the Divide, our community tries to see the beauty in the mundane, the extraordinary in the ordinary, the holy in the everyday. Join us.
